1. I know you, but some people may not. So could you please introduce yourself to the world? ”Hi there! I’m Taylor Glockner, an Australian actor, writer and producer. I’m interested in all things creative... Come to think of it, I’d love to direct one day too...” 2. What was your first job in the entertainment industry? Also, what did you do before that? ”My first job in the entertainment industry was in 2009. It was a Queensland Transport Commercial, promoting safe driving. I started where I could, and progressed my way into TV and Films!” 3. Did you study acting before getting into the industry? ”I did! Before my first ‘break’ (which was definitely Conspiracy365), I took Acting School on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (8am to 5pm). Then I’d race across town to start my shift as a dishwasher (every night, 6pm to 11pm). On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, I’d work construction by day (7am to 4pm), and wash dishes by night. Sundays were filled with... you guessed it... more dishwashing. It was difficult, but very fun. I truly believe there is no substitute for hard work!” 4. If you could work with anyone you'd want, who would that person be and why? ”Great question. Many people... I’ve already been lucky to make projects with some of my heroes (Alan Fletcher, Stefan Dennis, Jonathan M. Shiff), and chat with others (Guy Pearce, Grant Bowler, James Franco). In terms of a dream come true... There’s a writer-director I really admire named Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood, Magnolia, Phantom Thread). I’d love to work with PTA because I think he’s a visionary, an incredible auteur, and a real actors-director...” 5. What does a normal day in your life look like? ”When I’m shooting a series... it’s usually up at 5am, and working until night (sometimes pretty late). I really enjoy it. I love immersing myself on set! If I’m not shooting... I try to wake up around 8am. I’ll have some coffee, and see if my family need help with anything. Then I’ll check emails. Maybe I’ll have a Skype, a Zoom, a phone call, or some rehearsal for an upcoming project. Maybe I’ll have to shoot a selftape or go to an audition. Then I’ll head out for a walk, or workout for my next role. In the afternoon I’ll do some reading, and try to make a healthy dinner. At night, I’ll screen a TV Series (2 episodes) or a Film (maybe something a friend has asked me to see). I watch something new just about every day.” 6. Where is your favorite place to be and why? ”Hanging out on the Gold Coast! But anywhere really, if I’m with family and friends. I’ve been lucky to spend time in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, LA, San Fransisco... I like exploring new cities!” 7. If you could, what would be the one advice you would want to give to your younger self? ”Keep going... Keep working hard... Keep taking risks... Leave no stone unturned. Also, always be the best person you can!” 8. What is one of the best advice that you've got? Who was the person that gave it to you? ”My mentor Danny Collins (producer of Gallipoli, Monkey Grip and many other films), who said to me, <Never be afraid to stand out from the crowd, to be unique, to be an individual... you don’t wanna do what everybody else is doing...>” 9. What is your biggest accomplishment so far? ”Speaking of, I’d say my biggest accomplishment is an unsung one... I’ve worked with a really special team of producers (Danny Collins, Jill Isaacs and Alan Fletcher) to write a Limited Series based on a novel titled The Queenslander (by the acclaimed Australian author, Robert Macklin). The story is akin to The Queen’s Gambit, and would be perfect for a streaming service (like Netflix or Amazon Prime). We're having exciting progress... fingers crossed!” 10. Who is your biggest inspiration and why? ”I find inspiration everywhere, but to name a few, I really admire character-actors like Philip Seymour Hoffman, Daniel Day-Lewis, and Joaquin Phoenix. I also read about entrepreneurs (past and present) who think outside the box, and pave their own way through life... people like Richard Branson, Elon Musk, and Steve Jobs.” 11. If you could book any role in the next years to come, what would that dream role be? ”Thankfully, there’s always another role, so I’m happy to inhabit whoever that character may be. My good friend Noah Gerometta has asked me to play a Lead in his film The Fool, which is shooting later in the year. Noah is a really talented young writer-director, with a bright future. I’m looking forward to watching his career develop! As for me, I’ve had success with Series for younger audiences (Conspiracy365, Neighbours, Mako Mermaids), so I hope to make more mature, darker Series in the future!” 12. Is there anything you can disclose about The Queenslander? ”Absolutely. The Queenslander is about a young writer named Palmer and his troubled journey to become a playwright in 1980s Queensland. It’s a truly compelling story, with so many interesting characters. As I mentioned earlier, the material is something akin to The Queen’s Gambit. We intend to shoot in Brisbane and the Darling Downs, with a completely Australian cast and crew!” 13. What is the best part about life on set? ”Meeting new people and collaborating to make the best production possible!” 14. I guess everyone wants to know, how was being part of Mako Mermaids? Could you share your favorite memory from that time? ”Working on Mako Mermaids was amazing! I loved playing Chris. I get a lot of Instagram messages... I’m so happy that the fans seem to love Chris too! He was such a nice guy... Aside from working with a wonderful cast and crew, my favourite memory is swimming with dolphins!” 15. Are you still in touch with your former castmates from Mako Mermaids? ”Definitely. Many of us are from different parts of the world, but we keep in touch via email! I text with Chai Romruen every now and then, and have mutual friends with Mikey Wulff. Also, I bumped into Isabel Durant last year when I was in Sydney.” 16. In the end, is there anything you'd like to say to the people who support you? ”A big THANK YOU for supporting my journey... I’m glad you’ve enjoyed my work so far... and I hope to make more interesting projects for you in the future!”
