1. I know you, but some people may not. So could you please introduce yourself to the world? "Sure! My name is Nicole Oliver. I am an actor, voice over actor, director, and producer. I have been working in the entertainment industry for about 30 years...boy, time sure does fly." 2. What was your first job in the entertainment industry? Also, what did you do before that? "My first real job in the industry was on <Kung Fu: The Legend Continues> with David Carradine. I had a recurring role on that tv series. It was a steep learning curve but a ton of fun." 3. Did you study acting before getting into the industry? "Yes. I went to York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I graduated from their theatre program with a BFA. It was an intense 4 years, but getting an education has always been important to me." 4. If you could work with anyone you'd want, who would that person be and why? "Right now I am really interested in all of the work Reese Witherspoon is involved with, not just in front of the camera, but behind it as well. I would love to have an indepth conversation with her about her experience in this business and how she has navigated some of the challenges we, as women in this industry, too often encounter. I am also a huge fan of the work she is doing in front of the camera.. really nuanced and powerful." 5. What does a normal day in your life looks like? "In a word..busy. I could be working either an an actor in front of the camera or behind the mic, or I might be directing an episode of a cartoon show- sometimes both! Add to that being a mother of 2 teen boys, nurturing my realtionship with my husband and friends, trying to keep a household running, and finding time for self care..it’s a little crazy sometimes. However, I made the world I live in, and I love it and am very grateful." 6. Where is your favorite place to be and why? "That is an interesting question!! Right now, it’s my yoga mat. If I am on it, that means I have carved out time for self care, community and exercise." 7. If you could, what would be the one advice you would want to give to your younger self? "Besides to <eat the bread>.. seriously, a sandwich is not going to tip the scale, it would be to not take it all so seriously. Humour is a healthy elixir and makes everything a little easier to manage." 8. What is one of the best advice that you've got? Who was the person that gave it to you? "In the mid 90s I shot a movie with Rutger Hauer and Eva Marie Saint called <Mariette in Ecstasy> (a religious thriller). Eva Marie recounted a story to me about her experience as a young actress trying to make her way in Hollywood. The big take away for me was to surround myself with people I love and that who know ME and support me... and to know the path I want to walk in my career, and to stick to my values and goals." 9. What is your biggest accomplishment so far? "I have had a great career to date with many, many highlights, but I don’t feel I have reached my peak yet! <Wonder> was a beautiful project to be a part of, working on <My Little Pony> for almost a decade and being able to interact with fans from all over the world has been mind-blowing…but being able to say that I am a working performer for almost 30 years, the mother to 2 beautiful, healthy young men, and that I have been married to my husband for almost 2 decades… that makes me proud." 10. If you could book any role in the next years to come, what would that dream role be? "I would love to play a detective with a dark past in the middle of a big, dark whodunnit. I love Olivia Coleman and her work on Broadchurch was inspiring and phenomenal. Oh.. and really anything with zombies or vampires... I love the horror genre!" 11. Is there anything you can disclose about the new project that you are promoting? "Currently I am in Season 4 of <Man in the High Castle> on Amazon Prime and I have a fun Hallmark Christmas movie called <A Family Christmas Gift> premiering December 22nd on Hallmark. MITHC was a dark but beautiful project. My scenes with the series lead, Alexa Davalos were a bit of a different tone as they were about hope and possibility... two ideas that seem very far away in the land of MITHC. The Hallmark movie was truly a gift, as we got to work with the legendary Miss Patti Labelle AND hear her sing. Her voice is like angels giving you a hug! I can’t wait for people to watch this movie- it will really bring on the Christmas spirit!" 12. What is the best part about life on set? "Life on set can be tough... but it is the people who really make or break a project. When you have a great crew and solid cast, it is magic." 13. In the end, is there anything you'd like to say to the people who support you? "A very humble thank you. I love meeting people, and if something I participated in made someone smile or made their day a little brighter, then I am truly happy."
