So could you please introduce yourself to the world?
"I’d love to… My name is Milauna Jemai (like Jamai-ca) Jackson and I’m from the Southside of Chicago."
2. What was your first job in the entertainment industry?
"Also, what did you do before that? My first job was as a Leading lady in a music Video. Twista “Emotions”. Until about 12 years ago, I worked practically every temp job I could find. From Telemarketing to braider to being a kiddie chauffeur; name it, I’ve probably done it. "
3. Did you study acting before getting into the industry?
"Absolutely, that’s how I learned the craft. My Sophomore year in high school, my momma transferred me to a performing arts high school, Curie High School. My major was drama and I loved it. Not high school, just the class. lol. But even upon graduating, I continue to study today. Everyday is my goal. Stay creative."
4. If you could work with anyone you'd want, who would that person be and why?
"J Nicole Brooks (Southside and Fargo)- Creative partner and Sister Friend , Nicole Behare (Black Mirror), and Alana Arenas (Daivd Makes Man). They are all talented and extremely inspiring. "
5. What does a normal day in your life looks like?
"Oh… I’m the husband and the wife in my household, so I make the donuts, fry the donuts, eat the donuts and clean up the mess left behind. LOL. I also watch lots of movies and TV. Read. Create posts… delete said posts… recreate it & post it anyway … you know typical artist stuff."
6. Where is your favorite place to be and why?
"Home, honestly. When it’s clean, there’s no place like it. It’s comforting, grounding and peaceful."
7. If you could, what would be the one advice
you would want to give to your younger self?
"Be your own biggest cheerleader. You'll have to be, no matter what anyone else says. Go, Milauna, go! You got this, sis!!!"
8. What is one of the best advice that you've got?
Who was the person that gave it to you?
"Never ask for an <easy> life. Ask for the strength you need to get you through it.- Lynda Jai aka my mommy."
9. What is your biggest accomplishment so far?
"Being a leading lady in a feature film which premiered at the 70th Venice International Film Festival. There were only a hand full of black leading ladies there, and I was one of em. Invited by the director Nate Parker to promote, American Skin. That’s God."
10. If you could book any role in the next years to come,
what would that dream role be?
"I’d love to slay a few roles portraying our American Legends and Icons; I have a few heroines in mind. I’m working on it."
11. Is there anything you can disclose about any new project?
"I’m gonna be on <The Good Doctor> as a special guest lead, season three, episode 11; and I’m going back to Animal Kingdom, season five, in an awesome way."
12. What is the best part about life on set?
"When there’s great catering and craft services. You see the anticipation in the cast and crew. We all look forward to lunch cause it sustains us during those grueling hours. Imagine a prepaid catering team cooking fresh menus daily, providing both healthy and guilty pleasures options. It’s a dream. Snacks on snacks on snacks too. Come on now. There’s nothing like it. Being in front of the camera entertaining people, though, there's nothing preceding that…"
13. In the end, is there anything you'd like to say to the people who support you?
"Your unyielding support is the necessary fuel for my journey. I thank you. I love you. I appreciate you. Cause I'm in it, to win it. "
