1. I know you, but some people may not.
So could you please introduce yourself to the world?

”Hey and thanks so much for the interview! I am Jennifer Copping and I have been a professional actor, singer, dancer and director for over 30 years.”

2. What was your first job in the entertainment industry?
Also, what did you do before that?

”I got my first agent at 15 and the first job I remember booking was on a show called Booker that starred Richard Greico. It was a spin-off of 21 Jump Street. School!”

3. Did you study acting before getting into the industry?

”My dance, musical theatre background gave me a lot of confidence performing as I started that at the age of 4 so I launched into my acting career before formally studying anywhere.”

4. If you could work with anyone you'd want,
who would that person be and why?

”My dream is to work with Frances McDormand. I often get told we look alike so that is thrilling to me! The roles she plays on both stage and screen are so inspirational to me… Masterclass everytime I witness her work.”

5. What does a normal day in your life look like?

”That is a crazy question!! Are you sure you want the truth?? Haha! Well, we have 2 kids so mornings are a LOT around here getting out the door to school. Then I teach 4 days a week as an acting teacher. Plus, I coach actors privately as well as mentor a few. Throw in many self tape auditions and work when it comes for me on stage or screen and it makes for a very full life!”

6. Where is your favorite place to be and why?

”My favorite place to be is in the theatre. No question! It’s my happy place. A close second would be on a set like Debris working with incredible artists and speaking incredible dialogue!”

7. If you could, what would be the one advice
you would want to give to your younger self?

”Start writing now!!!”

8. What is one of the best advice that you've got?
Who was the person that gave it to you?

”Best advice I ever got was to turn down a pizza commercial I booked and go on a Mothers Day weekend shopping trip with my Mom that we had planned. I agonized over the decision because it was the first commercial I had booked. I was 16. The person who gave me the advice was a mentor and fellow performer Jane Mortifee. She said there will always be another commercial… there may never be another trip with your Mom. I lost My Mom when I was 30 and I cherish the memory of that trip so much. Thank you Jane, xo.”

9. What is your biggest accomplishment so far?

”Raising our boys.”

10. If you could book any role in the next years to come,
what would that dream role be?

”There is a musical called Grey Gardens I am dying to do. And I feel another feature role may be just around the corner. Manifesting!
”

11. What can you tell us about your character from Debris, Julia Maddox?

”She is very complex and traumatized by the car accident she feels was her fault years ago. It has deeply affected her marriage , their son and the whole fabric of their family.”

12. How was working on Debris?
Any story you could share from behind the scenes?

”It has been truly a dream job from start to finish. I connected with the character of Julia so much right from the first read of the material because of the love she has for her boy and I have loved working with my beautiful scene partner Norbet Leo Butz and diving into the world that show creator JH Wyman has created for us all. The directors I had were all at the top of their games as well! The entire team are fantastic, generous and talented people and I am so lucky to be a part of this show!”

13. What is the best part about life on set?

”Feeling so welcomed and like such an integral piece of the puzzle. I had not actually met Riann or Jonathan yet on my last day of shooting so Padraic McKinley (producer/director) invited me over to meet them after I wrapped on my other set across town! That was thrilling of course, as I think they are both so incredible!”

14. What is your favorite part of your job and why?

”The diversity of projects and people that I get the chance to work with.”

15. How is your job different now, during the pandemic?
Did it change the vibe around set?

”It was definitely different my first day back on a set… but mindfulness is always a good thing so I think it has been a positive change that will likely affect how sets are run now forever.”

16. In the end, is there anything you'd like to say to the people who support you?

”Thank you for supporting the arts!! We need you and the world needs art more than ever in all it’s forms right now. And thanks for having me today! I love spreading the love about the show! Cheers!!”
