1. I know you, but some people may not.
So could you please introduce yourself to the world?
"Hello, my name is Jacob Dudman.
I like long walks on the beach and peanut butter sandwiches."
2. What was your first job in the entertainment industry?
Also, what did you do before that?
"My first job was as ‘various roles’ in a production of <The War Master>,
an Audio series with Derek Jacobi.. what an amazing first job to have!"
3. Did you study acting before getting into the industry?
"I was lucky enough to be introduced to my wonderful acting teacher, John Osbourne Hughes, back in 2016 and he still teaches me today. I don’t think drama school is necessary for actors, but there are so many great classes around and there is always more to learn."
4. If you could work with anyone you'd want,
who would that person be and why?
"I would love to work with J.J. Abrams!
And it would be fantastic to act alongside David Tennant on something."
5. What does a normal day in your life looks like?
"Because of my job I don’t often have a ‘normal’ day. When you’re on a TV job, your call time changes each day and what you do in the day is always different! On a day off, I usually get up far too early, have a massive breakfast, answer the daily e-mails, go to the gym or for a walk, go to the cinema and write or paint something to keep creative."
6. Where is your favorite place to be and why?
"My favourite place to be is back in Yorkshire, where I grew up,
with a gentle breeze on my face and the birds singing in the trees!"
7. If you could, what would be the one advice
you would want to give to your younger self?
"The world isn’t black and white, it’s full of colour.
Go out and see the spectacle. Claim nothing, enjoy."
8. What is one of the best advice that you've got?
Who was the person that gave it to you?
"My Godfather once told me that if you spend your life going from desire to desire, you’ll never be satisfied. If you’re coming from a place of appreciation for the things that you already have, you will feel less of a ‘need’ for attaining things."
9. What is your biggest accomplishment so far?
"I don’t think I have one! I’m very proud of where I am in my life and all i’ve done so far."
10. If you could book any role in the next years to come,
what would that dream role be?
"Part of me would love to play the classic figures: Indiana Jones, James Bond, Doctor Who etc., but another part of me wouldn’t dare try to fill those boots!"
11. Is there anything you can disclose about any new project?
"The Stranger is a new 8-part series coming to Netflix on 30th of January.
I can’t say a lot but there is some really intense, beautifully dramatic moments in it."
12. What is the best part about life on set?
"Well, I get to dress up go on amazing sets and
transport myself to the land of make believe. What’s not to love??"
13. In the end, is there anything you'd like to say to the people who support you?
"You guys are cool!"
Fan questions for Jacob:
How do you feel about taking on a role that is part of the Winx universe
known by so many from their childhood?
– Chloe from Belgium
"Thanks for the question, Chloe! It’s an honour to step into a universe loved by so many around the world. We’re very proud of what we’ve achieved in the series and hope that you enjoy it! I would say that they’ve cleverly adapted the material to reach a new audience, whilst also pleasing the old faithfuls. People who are fans of the original show might be surprised by a few things!"
How would you describe the experience of working in Italy for Medici?
- Alessandra from Italy
"Working in Italy was the dream! We had such beautiful locations to film and so every day off felt like a holiday. It was also amazing to visit these historic buildings I had known so little about before. It was an education as well as a pleasure!"
Without any spoilers of course, how much darker can you say
Fate: The Winx Saga is, compared to the original series?
- Victor from US
"They are two very different shows.
Think of what Netflix did with Sabrina (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina)."
If you could have any magic power in real life, what would it be and why?
– Elisa from France
"I would love to teleport. Half of my life is spent travelling to places!"
Were there any life lessons you have learned during filming?
- Mariam from South Africa
"I think acting really teaches you about patience and empathy for others. The ability to put yourself into another character and understand their thoughts and feelings has really enabled me to do the same in real life in the people I meet."
