1. I know you, but some people may not. So could you please introduce yourself to the world? “Hello! My name is David Oulton, and I am a Canadian film and television actor, and I suppose now also a talk show host! I’ve worked in film for about ten years now, and I also have a real estate business in Calgary, Canada.” 2. What was your first job in the entertainment industry? Also, what did you do before that? “My first ever on-set experience was a blink or you’ll miss it appearance on Disney’s Hannah Montana. From there, I studied Acting for Film at the New York Film Academy where we got to film eight or ten independent movies on the Universal Studios Backlot. It snowballed from there. Alberta is a cyclical film industry, so I also have a real estate business that keeps me busy for the rest of the time. Before those things though, I worked in marketing, and my very first ever job when I was 15 was at the McDonalds Drive Thru.” 3. Did you study acting before getting into the industry? “Yes. I started in high school with some drama classes, and then I took the Acting for Film course through the New York Film Academy.” 4. If you could work with anyone you'd want, who would that person be and why? “Probably Sandra Bullock because I think she is hilarious and I just adore her.” 5. What does a normal day in your life looks like? “Busy. Wake up around 5:30am and take my German Shepherd, Khloe, to the dog park for an hour before it gets busy. Then I do a work out either at my home gym or, before COVID, at the gym nearby. After breakfast it’s then emails, meetings with clients for real estate, reviewing edits for the show, I may have an audition to prepare for, doing interviews such as this, answering emails, etc. That usually takes me up to supper time, and then I spend about an hour or so relaxing before another dog walk. If I am filming though, it’s usually 8-12 hours on set and very little else. You start very early doing hair and make up, reviewing lines or notes if it’s the talk show, and you’re in front of the camera and lights for several hours.” 6. Where is your favorite place to be and why? “In the air. I love flying, and it relaxes me. I love being above everything and travelling. My favorite destination thus far is Dubai, and all of the UAE. It’s such a different world, but I love it there. The people are so nice, and it’s a melting pot of different cultures and customs, but everyone is open to learning. I also felt extremely safe there at all times of the day and night. It was so hot during the days that I would often nap throughout the daytime, and walk around exploring at night.” 7. If you could, what would be the one advice you would want to give to your younger self? “Don’t be afraid to take a risk, the worst thing that could happen is you have to try again.” 8. What is one of the best advice that you've got? Who was the person that gave it to you? “None of my career would have happened if it wasn’t for Dame Judi Dench telling me, when we met by chance once, to take the risk and try to get into a film school in LA. That was the best decision I ever made.” 9. What is your biggest accomplishment so far? “I don’t think I can pinpoint it down to just one, but career wise it would probably be my new talk show. I’m so proud of it, and I’m involved in every aspect so I’m very passionate about it.” 10. If you could book any role in the next years to come, what would that dream role be? “I would love to do a film about mental health and the hidden struggles associated with that. I think those stories are important to share, and our society needs a lot more education on the matter, so I would love to help raise awareness for that.” 11. You have just launched a new talk show on Amazon, Face to Face with David. Is there anything you can disclose about this new project? “It’s a talk show we just finished filming the first season of, with me as the host. I’m so excited about this. We did all the interviews remotely because of Skype, but it actually turned out really well. We have some amazing guests on the show, including Carson Kressley, Perez Hilton, Vernee Watson, Lawrence Pressman, and many many others. It’s easy watching, light hearted, and there are some really hilarious moments during season one.” 12. What is the best part about life on set? “With the talk show, it was probably the fact I got to sit in a Versace bathrobe and drink wine the whole day.” 13. In the end, is there anything you'd like to say to the people who support you? “Thank you so so so much! There are so many shows and films and other outlets for entertainment, so the fact people take the time to watch the content I’m putting out really means the world to me. Without our audience, we wouldn’t have a show, so thank you. I also have to say that none of this would be possible without the amazing team behind the scenes, my DP and editor Luis Gonzalez, our director Candace Schmidt, and our producer Rae Farrer. They made this show possible.”
