1. I know you, but some people may not.
So could you please introduce yourself to the world?
"Hello world! My name is Amy Ruffle. I am a human person who is an actor, writer, comedian and child refusing to be an adult."
2. What was your first job in the entertainment industry?
Also, what did you do before that?
"My first job in entertainment was an original Australian musical called The Last Train. Before that, I was very in love with school and studying psychology, health and science in general."
3. Did you study acting before getting into the industry?
"I studied Musical Theatre at a Performing Arts School In Melbourne, Australia and it was truly the greatest year of my life."
4. If you could work with anyone you'd want,
who would that person be and why?
"Oooh that’s a tough one! I really love Frances McDormand and Mark Ruffalo… but I think my overall answer would be to work with my friends from the UCB community. They are some of the funniest and most talented people I know, who will be working non stop in no time, so I’m going to catch them now before they’re too busy. Also we would have a very fun time."
5. What does a normal day in your life looks like?
"I don’t know that there is a normal day? And also normal days tend to be less exciting than people want to hear. There are plenty of days that involve performing, recording, shooting etc but also many days that are doing laundry, washing dishes, listening to podcasts, watching the Great British Bake Off!"
6. Where is your favorite place to be and why?
"Wherever my family is! Or in a movie theatre! Or in a dream where the world is made of chocolate and I can snack on everything around me!"
7. If you could, what would be the one advice
you would want to give to your younger self?
"Hello young Amy. This is an older version of you and you are going to hate what we now think is cool and fun. We like going to the grocery store and have a favorite spoon to eat with… anyway this will make no sense to you currently, but invest in scooters. In 2019, every person you could NEVER imagine riding a scooter, will be riding a scooter. Get in now before the boom. Also you have so much time. Stop wanting to be older and further along in your life. Right now you’re allowed to be learning and growing and having fun. Go see that Harry Potter movie with your friends."
8. What is one of the best advice that you've got?
Who was the person that gave it to you?
"You can’t control everything that happens in life, only how you respond to it. So you can either choose for it to happen TO you, or FOR you. And it’s going to be a far more enjoyable experience if you see things as happening FOR you. Your perception and attitude is EVERYTHING. I don’t know where I learnt this, but it has become a major life philosophy for me."
9. What is your biggest accomplishment so far?
"My biggest accomplishment so far is letting myself go back to school later in life and be a beginner at something again! I think the older we get, the harder it is to start again and allow ourselves to learn something. You’re never too old to try something new."
10. If you could book any role in the next years to come,
what would that dream role be?
"I would love to do another musical. Next To Normal would still be my dream show, so lets make that come to Los Angeles!!!!"
11. Is there anything you can disclose about any new project?
"I wrote a book. It’s in the editing phase, but should be released next year. I’m equally excited and terrified about it."
12. What is the best part about life on set?
"Getting to be around very talented and creative people. Every department is unique and skilled in different ways and it is such a treat to get to learn from so many different minds."
13. In the end, is there anything you'd like to say to the people who support you?
"You guys are the best! I really appreciate the love y’all send my way and am SO grateful for every message I get. It truly blows my mind people take the time to reach out and I do not take that for granted. Thank you."
